INFO FOR LOGGING INTO THE CLASS FOLDER:

Using AFP on an Apple computer:

SPECIAL NOTE: ALL NETWORK ACCESS MUST BE DONE FROM WITHIN THE ART DEPT. LABS. ACCESS FROM HOME IS NO LONGER POSSIBLE.

1. In the finder menu select the "Go" option.

2. Under the "Go" option select "Connect to Server".

3. Enter 128.146.45.4/Class_Folders/Art and click "Connect".

4. Enter your College of the Arts username and password (lastname#) and click "Connect".

5. From there, navigate to your folder.

INFO FOR USING THE NETRENDER "RENDER FARM"

  1. Open your web browser and enter 128.146.45.21 in the URL address bar and hit return/enter.
  2. When the webpage loads click on the “ENTER” button.  The net render web page will now load showing you all of the available options in the “JOBS”  interface.
  3. To submit a job for rendering enter the name of what you would like to call the job in the window next to the “Create New Job” button and then click the “Create New Job” button.
  4. You will then see your job title listed in the “INACTIVE JOBS” window.  There are 2 areas in the “INACTIVE JOBS” window that the user can manipulate.  They are “Name” AND “Command” and both windows will be used to submit the net render job.  You can now click on your job title link listed in the “INACTIVE JOBS” window.
  5. This link will take you to the “Project Files” upload window so that you can upload your files to the net render server.  Click the “Upload” button to load the upload files web page.   
  6. When the “Upload” web page loads you can click on the “Choose File” button and then navigate to the file/files you want to upload for rendering.
  7. Once all of the files have been uploaded for rendering you can then click on the “JOBS” button at the top of the web page to bring you back to the “JOBS” interface.
  8. You should still see your job listed in the “INACTIVE JOBS” window.  You can now click on the “Start” link under “COMMAND” and your job will then move up to the “RENDER QUE” window.  At this point you can also use the “Clear” or “Delete” link under “COMMAND” to clear or delete your job from the net render server.  
  9. If there are no jobs currently being handled by the net render server your job will immediately start rendering.  If there are other jobs in the “RENDER QUE” you job will wait in the que for it’s turn to render.
  10. You can check the progress of your net render job by going to the web interface using the ip address above and looking at the “Progress” window under “RENDER QUE” for your job.  Once the job is complete you can download your rendered files from the net render server by clicking on your “job name” link under the “RENDER QUE” window.
  11. The “job name” link will take you to the web page to download your result files.  All of your rendered files will be listed under the “RESULT FILES” window.  Click the download button to download your rendered files back to your computer.
