10 Weeks:

Week 1:

Class 1: Introduction to the class and instructor

This class will be devoted to going over the syllabus and structure for the class, explaining Project 1&2 and introducing myself to the class. The rest of class will be spent reviewing the C4D / 3D Interface of the program.

Week 2:

Class 2: PROJECT 1 DUE TODAY. Today will include review of all notebooks for 3 different sketched views of the "diatom" object and will discuss the articles in detail.

***Homework Assignment: Read this article in Slate Magazine on Kenneth Snelson and review Kenneth Snelsons Web site here and read this article on the Weaving, Mother of Tensegrity for discussion. Upload to the class server, a one paragraph response on the articles, by tuesday night @ 9:00 p.m.

Class 3: Beginning Modelling: Primatives, Polygons and beyond...
Today's lessons will cover the above subjects. The rest of time will be spent as in class lab time to work on project two.

Week 3:

Class 4: NO CLASS: MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

Class 5: Introduction to Nurbs Generators: Extrude, Lathe, Loft, Sweep & Splines
Today's lesson will be focused on the above principles and discussions about the homework readings and review of tutorial #1, the rest of class will be spent working on project 2.

Week 4:

Class 6: PROJECT 2 DUE TODAY, Today's class will be spent in critique of Project 2.

****Homework Assignment: Read Michael Rees article from sculpture magazine. Upload to the class server, a one paragraph response on the articles, by tuesday night @ 9:00 p.m.

Class 7: Introduction to project 3, Introduction to Deformers: Twist, bend, bulge, shatter, etc. Also continued lessons on Nurbs and their advanced features. Today's lessons will cover the above subjects. as well as discussions regarding the homework readings and the following video will be presented and discussed.

Week 5:

Class 8: Introduction to Polygon based modeling: N gons, subdivision, etc.
The first part of class will be used to critique project three. The rest of class will be spent covering the above subjects.

Class 9: Continued Polygon based modeling: N gons, subdivision, etc.
Today's lesson will be focused on the above principles. The rest of class time will be spent working on project 3.

Week 6:

Class 10:PROJECT 3 DUE TODAY, The majority of class will be spent in critique of project 3

****Homework Assignment: Read The Digital Sculpture by George Fifield. Upload to the class server, a one paragraph response on the articles, by tuesday night @ 9:00 p.m.

Class 11: Introduction to Project 4
Continued Polygon based modeling: N gons, subdivision, etc.
Today's lesson will be focused on the above principles. The rest of class time will be spent working on project 3.

Week 7:

Class 12: Introduction to Advanced Textures (Digital Camera, outdoor class day, weather permitting)
Today's lessons will cover the above subjects. If time permits we will also view relevant examples of 3D based artworks.

Class 13: Continued lessons on Advanced Textures
Today's lesson will be focused on the above principles, the rest of class will be spent working on project 4.

Week 8:

Class 14: PROJECT 4 DUE TODAY, The majority of class time will be spent in critique of project 4.

****Homework Assignment: Read these two Essay's by Dan Collins #1 and #2. Upload to the class server, a one paragraph response on the articles, by tuesday night @ 9:00 p.m.

Class 15: Review of concepts/sketches for FINAL PROJECT , Introduction to Advanced Lighting and Camera Techniques
Today's lessons will cover the above subjects. If time permits we will also view relevant examples of 3D based artworks

Week 9:

Class 16: Today's class will be spent reviewing Rapid Prototyping processes and techniques and an introduction to Particle Systems & Depth of Field

****Homework Assignment: Read the Michael LaForte Q and A article, available in the Class materials folder on the class server. Upload your reponse to the class DROP BOX, by tuesday night @ 9:00 p.m.

Class 17: Today's class will be focused on Advanced Export options: Radiosity & Advanced Rendering, Printing, HDRI image export, export to film, etc.
Today's lessons will cover the above subjects. The rest of class time will be spent working on the Final Project.

Week 10:

Class 18: Class 20: In class Lab Time for working on The Final Project.

Class 19: FINAL PROJECTS DUE!!!
The Entire class will be spent in critique of Final Projects.
